Phu Quoc Island is known for idyllic beaches, romantic sunsets, evergreen forests, and a serene atmosphere. But that’s not just it. Phu Quoc is also home to a collection of gorgeous starfish.
Come here and you can swim and observe colorful starfish at the same time. A whole new experience is waiting for you!
As people usually think, the best time to travel to the sea or beaches is during the summer. The case is not right if you want to see starfish in Phu Quoc. To have the best view of starfish here, you should arrange time around March or April.
In March of April, the sun is just the right bright, the sky is high blue and the water is crystal clear. What’s most important is that starfish is everywhere and very close to the shore. They are right above the sand, laying still for a sunbath.
The clear, crystal blue, and calm sea with extremely smooth white sand make it easier for any tourist to see vibrant orange starfish.
You can take many pictures with them but avoid stepping on them or picking them out of the water. These notices will be elaborated in detail later.
If you’re looking for off-the-beaten-track places, to wind off in peace or simply get away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, Rach Vem Fishing Village will suit your needs and more.
This destination has only been discovered and began to open for tourism for a couple of years. For that reason, the beach you’ll be visiting here is still shining with unspoiled beauty. The seawater is clearer than ever. Just a google search and you’ll see how majestic the beach here may look with the abundance of vibrant starfish.
A plus point for this village is how friendly the locals are. They are always willing to help. Since most of the locals here make a living out of fishing and only started to make a benefit out of tourism lately, they are very down to earth. They offer you their own seafood that they catch and cook. Their cooking is no doubt out of this world.
It would be about 25km to Rach Vem Fishing Village if you’re travelling from Duong Chau town. You can either take a taxi or hire a motorbike and get there yourself.
One very important note here is to never visit the place during the time from May to September.
There are 2 reasons. First, since during this time, there are lots of heavy rains, the route leading to Rach Vem Fishing Village, which is rough, earthy and dusty, is soaked in water, making it muddy-like and extremely hard for any vehicles to travel on. It would take more than 2 hours.
Second, from May to September, garbage and dirty seawater from the end of Mekong River usually rush to the north of Phu Quoc Island, which is Rach Vem. This has destroyed the biodiversity here, scaring starfish away from the shore. Many tourists have unfortunately visited this village during this time and have a lot of complaints because of the bad experience.
Bai Sao beach is nestled on the coast of An Thoi town, which is about 25 km from the center of Duong Dong town. This is definitely a worth-visit beach in Phu Quoc with the smooth sandy shore and blue clear seawater. Setting foot on Bai Sao beach, you will be amazed by the unspoiled beauty of the beach and the majestic landscape around.
Dry season, which lasts from November to March is the best time to take a trip to Bai Sao Beach. In this season, the temperature stays between 25 and 28°C. There may be a lot of visitors coming to Phu Quoc so the hotels may get fully booked very quickly.
Another ideal time to enjoy Bai Sao Beach is from mid-April to June. However, the weather may get a little bit hot and humid. So, you always need to bring water and sunscreen whenever going out of the hotel.
With feedback from our previous travellers, we will note down some helpful tips for you here. We hope that you will have a wonderful trip with the best experience.
