In my forever quest to seek out remote unspoiled tropical gems around the world, I knew that when we visited Vietnam we had to stay at the utterly gorgeous Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Nha Trang.
Six Senses Ninh Van Bay resort in Vietnam sits on a dramatic bay looking out to the East Vietnam Sea . It isn’t an island but is located at the edge of a beautiful peninsula in Nha Trang and can only be approached by water. Impressive rock formations, a gorgeous white sand beach, and a backdrop of towering mountains and the jungle makes this destination absolutely surreal! You have the best of everything from the ocean to the mountains and the jungle.
Sustainability
Aside from its spectacular tucked away location, like every Six Senses property, sustainable practices are at the core of every facet in their property from the food, to amenities to activities and more. Some of their incredible sustainable initiatives include :
- wildlife conservation of the black-shanked douc langur (native to this region in Vietnam)
- a massive solar farm called Ninh Van Greens, the first in-resort solar farm in Vietnam, which helps to provide electricity, organic produce, and hot water for the resort.
- social responsibility - From drinking water projects to educational programs and employment.
- an onsite reverse osmosis plant for drinking water
- organic garden Solar Freshcuts to grow their own produce
- and so much more!
Getting here :
You would have to fly to Cam Ranh airport and then the resort will arrange your transfers from here. It takes about a 1 hour car ride and a 20 minute boat ride to get to the resort from the airport.
Stay
Love that they have so many diverse villa accommodations - whether you want to stay on the hilltop, or the beach or literally on the rocks, every style of accommodation is so unique. Every villa also comes with their own butler or GEM ( guest experience manager).
We stayed in a beautiful Beachfront Pool Villa which had separate spacious sleeping and living areas, an ensuite bathroom, two thickly cushioned teak day beds, separate vanities, and a beautiful handcrafted wooden bathtub. Each villa also has a mini wine cellar. Outdoors we also had a gorgeous private plunge pool and direct access to the beach.
Inside and outside our Beachfront Villa
We also got to visit two other styles of accomodation while we were there. One was a Water Pool Villa - similar to a rock villa this unique villa was perched between the naturally forming rocks, but also had direct access to the ocean!
Best of both at your footstep - the beach and pool at the Water Pool Villa
We also got to visit the absolutely stunning Water Reserve, the best villa in the house perfect for a group of friends or family style accommodation. The luxurious Water Reserve is a 3 bedroom accommodation set at the water’s edge on the rock formations of a private bay! The private infinity pool blends naturally with the horizon and surrounding boulders and the villa itself is just drop dead gorgeous on the inside. And the best part - it has a slide in the pool which is so epic!

Around the resort
The resort is sprawled around the beautiful Ninh Van Bay beach. Each villa also gets their own bikes to explore around. As I mentioned earlier I love that you get the best of everything here from the secluded beach to the lush jungle to the lofty mountains! The location is pretty spectacular.
Gorgeous Ninh Van Bay
We especially loved the gorgeous long beachfront whether it was to walk end to end or go for a swim in the warm water. The resort also has a main pool area, spa, gym, tennis courts, boutique, library and more right on property.
Dining
Dining by the Bay
The resort has several dining options to choose from daily. Dining by the Bay is their main restaurant where breakfast and dinner is served. We loved our daily breakfasts with a view here! The spread was amazing - my personal favorite was their juice bar and their smoothie bowls of the day.
Dining by the Pool is the perfect spot for a midday lunch al fresco by the pool. We also had a Vietnamese buffet here on one of the nights and it was so delicious! The Pho station and fresh seafood section were our favorites.
Aside from the above the resort also has different weekly Destination Dining experiences that your GEM would be happy to assist with if you are interested.
Activities and Experiences
Whether you want to simply relax or try different activities, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay has something for everyone! They also have planned daily itineraries to choose from which include a mix of several experiences.
Some of the popular activities to do here include :
- Guided Hiking around Ninh Van Bay
- Kayaking and other watersports
- Vietnamese cooking class
- Boat charters and cruises
- Island hopping and Diving trips around Ninh Van Bay
- Private Beach Picnics or Beach Barbeque
We did a Castaway Private beach picnic on one of the afternoons and it was so dreamy. This was such a fun activity where the resort dropped us off on an uninhabited beach called Fairy Beach for a couple of hours. Crystal clear waters, stunning boulders and a jungle backdrop made this beach absolutely jaw dropping! They had everything set up from an umbrella to lounge chairs, a picnic lunch and snorkeling gear. You can also opt to kayak or hike to the beach instead of the boat ride over if you prefer.

The other activity we loved doing was a Romantic Sunset Cruise. Dreamy golden hour sundowners on a sunset cruise in a traditional Vietnamese fisherman boat in the gorgeous Ninh Van Bay - such an unforgettable experience! We also saw lots of the black shanked douc langurs on the trees in the mountains ! They apparently also come out of hiding at sunset to catch the last light of day too.

We had such a memorable stay at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, its easily one of my favorite resorts we have ever stayed at.
